QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017:
PKU Ranks Number One Among Chinese Universities in 28 Subjects
The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world's top universities in individual subject areas, covering 46 subjects as of 2017. China has increased its overall share of places and its share of top-50 places by 43% (from 65 in 2016 to 93 in 2017).

Peking University has retained its lead over other Chinese universities with 28 of its subjects ranking first among Chinese universities (chart below). Among them, PKU's Modern Languages and Linguistics have made their way into the top 10 globally. Additionally, a total of 29 subjects of Peking University were listed top 50, making it the leader in the Chinese mainland.
As displayed in the rankings above, Peking University is a comprehensive university with strengths in the arts and humanities, life sciences and medical sciences, social sciences and management, and natural sciences.
